If a bracket or band becomes loose or detaches from your tooth, it’s important to contact our office as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can use orthodontic wax to cover the area and prevent any irritation to your gums or mouth. Avoid eating sticky or hard foods that might worsen the issue.

Broken or bent wires

Wires that are bent or broken can cause discomfort and may affect the progress of your treatment. If this occurs, gently reposition the wire with a clean pair of tweezers or use orthodontic wax to cover any sharp edges. Poking wires

Sometimes, the ends of the wires can poke or irritate the inside of your mouth. This discomfort can often be relieved by applying orthodontic wax to the offending area. If the issue persists or if the wire appears to be out of place, contact our office for assistance.

In the event of any oral injuries related to your braces, such as cuts or abrasions to your cheeks, gums, or lips, use a saltwater rinse to soothe the area and apply orthodontic wax to any parts of the braces causing irritation.
